
HI THERE! I’M PAT ORDOÑEZ-KIM
Critical Education Scholar
BIO
Patriccia “Pat” Ordoñez-Kim is a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Riverside. She is studying social studies + history curriculum and Filipino identity from a decolonial framework. Informed by her experiences as a Los Angeles public high school graduate, Pat believes that education must be critical, engaging, and liberatory in order to empower youth, which is integral to a functioning democracy. Pat’s critical research on Filipino students, English Learner students, and graduate students have been accepted and presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association. Pat was the recipient of the Eugene Cota Robles Diversity Fellowship from 2016-2020, and was recognized with an Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year award in her department, along with other graduate students across the university. Pat holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration- Higher Education from California State University, Northridge.
